Is John Of All Trades licensed and insured in Philadelphia?

• Yes! John Of All Trades is licensed to operate and carries a million dollars of insurance. We are not a contractor that outsources work to others. The John Of All Trades in-house team will be on every job. 

Does John Of All Trades offer guarantees?

• It’s our mission to leave you a happy customer and make things right. We guarantee our labor for up to 90 days.

Does John Of All Trades offer services in residences and commercial businesses? 

• Yes, John Of All Trades works in homes and businesses through the Greater Philadelphia region. 

What kind of services do you offer? 

• John Of All Trades is unique. We offer traditional handyman services by the hour, but also offer the ability to do medium and large projects as well. John Of All Trades can help you with almost any project. 

How does John Of All Trades charge for services?

• John Of All Trades charges in three ways:

  • Easy-to-book exact 2-hour blocks for minor home repairs.

  • A flat-rate service charge for TV mounting services and related add-ons, drywall repairs, and In-person Estimates & Consultations.

  • Quoted & contracted projects for larger remodels, custom builds, and construction projects.

How do the hourly minor home repair appointments work?

• John Of All Trades has a minimum 2-hour appointment window in which a number of minor home repairs can be completed. If you have a long list, you can pre-book additional hours at a discount during the initial booking. Same day extensions may be offered if the John Of All Trades team has availability to stay longer. 

• If you need help estimating how much time you’ll need, feel free to text John.

• We may discover that something that seemed minor may require a more extensive fix and a require a written quote. Your technician will let you know during your appointment, and instead use the time to provide an In-person Consultation and written quote afterwards. 

When does my appointment officially start?

• In order to be fair to all clients and our team, the official start time for your appointment begins upon arrival at the appointment address. The team member will do their best to confirm the start time with you before beginning any work.

How much does John Of All Trades charge per hour?

• The John Of All Trades hourly rate for minor home repairs is $225/2 hours. Additional hours booked with the original booking are $85/hour. Same day additional hours are billed at $95/hour.

How does John Of All Trades charge for supplies?

• Unlike most contractors and handymen, John Of All Trades passes supplies costs directly to the customer without a mark up. If supplies need to be procured before your appointment, you will be charged only for the amount of time needed to purchase those supplies plus the cost of supplies. You may wish to purchase your own supplies, in which case, you will not be charged any additional time costs.

What other charges can I expect?

• Sometimes, depending on the location of your appointment, it may be necessary for John Of All Trades to charge for parking (ie. in Center City Philadelphia). If you have specific parking instructions, please be sure to include them while booking your appointment.

What payment methods does John Of All Trades accept?

• We accept all major credit cards through our website when making a reservation and Venmo and credit cards for same day charges. 

What areas does John Of All Trades serve?

• We serve Philadelphia and surrounding areas including Center City, Fishtown, Queen Village, South Philadelphia, Rittenhouse, Fairmount, West Philadelphia, the Mainline suburbs, and South Jersey. Not sure if you're in our service area? Text us and we'll let you know.

Does John Of All Trades do larger renovation projects?

• Yes! We do nearly all large-scale renovation projects: kitchen updates and remodels, bathroom updates and remodels, custom coffee bar installs, tiling, custom Philadelphia front doors, and more. We offer short wait times and more reasonable pricing than general contractors. Start this process by booking an In-person Consultation.

What is the process of booking a larger project with John Of All Trades?

• Please book an appointment under In-person Consultation, and we can discuss your project in further detail.

• Afterwards, we will provide a written estimate for your project via email.

• Projects are confirmed when approved in writing, a deposit is placed, and a date for the start is put on the calendar. 

What’s your rescheduling policy?

• Appointment times that have been confirmed, paid for, and reserved through the online scheduling system are eligible to be rescheduled with a $60 rescheduling fee applied.

• We are unable to reschedule appointment times for free. This allows John Of All Trades to maintain an accurate calendar of availability, and to ensure the best possible experience for all clients and team members. 

What happens if John Of All Trades needs to reschedule my appointment?

• In some cases, we may need to reschedule your appointment due to illness, weather-related issues, or other unforeseen factors/circumstances. In the event that your appointment needs to be rescheduled, John will make every attempt to reschedule your appointment with you. This will happen without any additional charges.

Are there things that John Of All Trades won’t do?

• The short answer is, Yes. Please be sure to list all repairs/requests/installations/etc. beforehand through the booking process. Although John will make every attempt to accommodate “day-of” requests, he can not guarantee the completion of non-listed requests same-day. If a “day-of” request can not be accommodated, we may ask that another appointment be made.

• John of All Trades team members reserve the right to refuse to complete certain requests based on safety concerns or liability reasons. For example, we won’t hang any items with wall strip adhesive like 3M Command Strips which frequently fail.
